EcoSpace has established an air quality monitoring network around Ohio State's campus to raise awareness of our campus air quality. Through the support of a grant from the Youth Climate Action Fund and collaboration with Ohio State's facilities department as a living lab, EcoSpace has had four sensors installed around campus. Live data from these sensors can be viewed on the map below.

What is PM2.5 Fine Particulate Matter?
PM2.5 refers to tiny atmospheric particles that are 2.5 micrometers or smaller in diameter (about 1/30th the width of a human hair). Because of their small size, they can penetrate deep into the lungs. Common sources include vehicle exhaust, wildfires, industrial emissions, and wood smoke.
US EPA AQI Conversion Standard
PurpleAir sensors use dual laser particle counters. To ensure consistency with official regulatory monitoring stations, our widgets apply the US EPA AQI conversion formula, which adjusts sensor readings for relative humidity and ambient particle composition.
